Synopsis:

New armor, battlefield hospitals and new medical advances in the war in Afghanistan and Iraq account for the highest survival rate of any war in American history. But the wounded also suffer from the most vicious injuries ever: severe burns, multiple amputations, an unprecedented number of Post Traumatic Stress Disorders (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI). This documentary series examines the medical advances and signature wounds of the current wars --and those who suffer from them. It provides an in-depth look at how families, doctors, and therapists cope with the new realities of the returning wounded. The series also discovers that all accross America people are stepping up to insist that the returning wounded are not treated in the same manner as the Vietnam Veteran.
